Saskatoon Sports Car Club
The Saskatoon Sports Car Club or SSCC is a local organization of sports car enthusiasts. The club aims to improve the driving skills among its members by getting together as often as possible to race in various events such as Solo II, Ice Racing, and Rally Event.
The Solo II event is a time pressured race. The cars are classified according to their engine’s age, horsepower, weight, tire condition, etc, and they shall compete according to their category. The drivers will race each of their cars one at a time through a course with pylon obstacles. Each driver should finish the course as swiftly as he can without losing control of his automobile and leaving all pylons untouched. Generally each driver is given three timed attempts to race through the pylon course. The time for each attempt is recorded and available for each participant to view. The Saskatoon Sports Car Club adapts the rules and regulations carried out by the Sports Car Club of America or SCCA for this event.
The Ice Racing Event is a form of motor race that is usually held in areas of high latitudes such as in Canada, northern United States, and in Northern Europe. Together with the other racing events, tentative schedules for this race are posted on the Saskatoon Sports Car Club official Website. Like the other events, the drivers and their cars need to register for this race. Drivers are expected to meet at the specified location 30 minutes prior the scheduled race. Usually, the Saskatoon Sports Car Club will host two sets of race for this event within the same day. There will also be instances when the tentative schedule will not push through due to intolerable temperatures.
The Rally Event on the other hand is conducted on public or private roads that are traffic free. This event usually takes place in different surfaces and conditions such as asphalt, gravel, and snow or ice. This will run throughout the year in every known climate. This competition can be won either by pure speed or by driving to a predetermined ideal period of journey time.
